Chinese white tea from Yunnan province. The name translates as “White Moonlight” (Chinese: 月光白).

Yue Guan Bai is made from raw materials from large-leaved, straight-trunked trees up to 5 meters high. They are called Jingu Da Bai Cha or Big White Tea from Jingu and the unusual black and white color of the tea is associated with the characteristics of this cultivar. The main difference between Moonlight and the famous Fujian white teas is that it is withered and dried not in the sun, but indoors.

Aroma: dense and slightly sweet with notes of peaches and heather honey.

Taste: soft, sweet, without astringency or bitterness. Fresh with a slight sourness, enveloping aftertaste.

Impact: gives soft tone and inspiration.

Harvesting: autumn 2023. White tea, especially those containing whole large leaves, becomes tastier when it has been aged for six to a year after production. During this time, the tea gains softness and sweetness in taste. The imbalance and bitterness inherent in young Yunnan teas disappear.

How to brew Yue Guan Bai: White loose leaf tea is well suited for both straight and infused brewing. By pouring from it you can get a wonderful melody of aroma, different in each cup. Infusion will bring it almost to red tea in color, the taste will be more pronounced and dense. Take a porcelain gaiwan for pouring or a large porcelain teapot for infusing. Warm the dishes thoroughly. Place 5 grams of tea per 100 ml of water for pouring and 4 grams per 250 ml of water for infusion. Use 90°C water. First spill time: 1 second. Infusion time: 4 minutes.
