Black tea Xiao Zhong Hua Xiang "Floral Aroma", 50g
"Little Kind with Floral Aroma" (小种花香) is a Chinese black tea from the Wuyi Mountains in northern Fujian province.
During the production of Xiaozhong, a process called "Gu Hong Gu" or "passing through the red furnace" is employed. This involves a short but intense heating at 200 degrees Celsius for 2-3 minutes. This step gives Xiaozhong its characteristic leaf color and "fiery" flavor. The term "Hua Xiang" means "floral aroma," indicating that due to the quality of the raw materials and the presence of golden tips, the tea has a pronounced floral fragrance.
Aroma: bright, with warm floral-honey and bread notes.
Taste: rich, clear, with distinct sweetness, a buttery quality, effervescent, and a slight astringency. It has a pleasant, enveloping aftertaste.
Effect: warming and invigorating.
Harvest: Spring 2023, Wuyi Mountains, Fujian Province, China.
How to brew: Any teaware is suitable for Xiaozhong. Porcelain will enhance the aroma, while clay will provide a rounder, more pronounced flavor. The infusion method allows for multiple flavors from one brew, while steeping will save time and yield a single, maximally expressed taste. Preheat the teaware before brewing and use boiling water.
