Oloong Si Zi Chun, Taiwan, 50g
Lightly fermented oolong with a semi-spherical twist, made from leaves of the cultivar of the same name. The name of the cultivar translates to "Spring of Four Seasons." Si Zi Chun is a prolific cultivar that allows for harvesting leaves up to four times a year, with the quality of all four harvests being consistent, nearly on par with the spring harvest.
Aroma: rich, sweet, with notes of jasmine.
Taste and aftertaste: sweet, oily, with floral undertones. At the end of the tea session, it has a slightly more astringent and mildly binding quality, with fruity sweetness and a barely noticeable tartness in the aftertaste.
Effect: softening, calming, and refreshing.
Harvest: 2023.
How to brew: preheat the teaware, whether it's a thin-walled porcelain gaiwan or a resonant Yixing teapot. Use 5 grams of tea leaves per 100 ml of water. Boiling water is recommended to fully unlock the potential of this Taiwanese oolong.
